A Shropshire children’s charity is putting stars in the spotlight this June, and they’re inviting the whole community to get involved.

Little Stars, known for its vital work supporting families in need across the county, has announced its first-ever Wear Stars 4 Little Stars Week, taking place from 22 to 30 June 2025. The week-long campaign will raise funds for Project Nighttime, a new initiative helping families access essential bedtime items like mattresses, pyjamas, nappies, toiletries, bedding and stairgates.

From dressing up in star-themed clothes to painting with friends or taking part in a local quiz night, there are plenty of ways to get involved, all while supporting a brilliant cause.

What is Project Nighttime?

Launched in early 2025, Project Nighttime aims to give every child in Shropshire the comfort and safety they deserve at bedtime. The charity provides items that cannot be sourced second-hand, from cot mattresses to bedding and bedtime toiletries.

In 2024 alone, Little Stars spent over £7,000 on these essentials. As the number of families needing help continues to rise, the charity hopes this campaign will bring the community together to raise the funds needed to keep up with demand.

Key Dates for Your Diary

Mark your calendars. Here are some of the special events happening during Wear Stars Week:

  • Sunday 22 June – Family Forest School Day at Wrekin Forest School
  • Tuesday 24 June – Quiz Night at Claremont Social Tap in Shrewsbury
  • Thursday 26 June – Paint and Sip Night at Ellesmere Distillery, hosted by The Art Mixer
  • Friday 27 June – Wear Stars or Pyjamas Day for schools, workplaces and anyone who wants to join in

Whether you’re wearing stars at work, hosting a themed bake sale or heading to an event, your efforts will directly help local children sleep more soundly.

Why It Matters

Little Stars founder and CEO Leanne Simcoe explained the importance of the project:

This year, we launched Project Nighttime in response to a growing need for children’s bedtime essentials. These items – like cot bed mattresses and bedding sets – can be expensive, and many families are struggling. This campaign ensures we can keep providing the crucial support every child deserves.

Last year, Little Stars supported more than 1,300 children across Shropshire through their referral-based service.
