Tucked away within the town walls, Orchard Café is a peaceful retreat that feels worlds apart from the bustle of the town centre.

Despite its SY1 postcode, this lovely spot is still a bit of a secret, nestled between Shrewsbury Cathedral and ancient historic walls.

The café was established to support the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shrewsbury, with all profits contributing directly to Shrewsbury Cathedral, so every purchase helps fund the upkeep and mission of the cathedral.

We visited on a sunny Sunday morning, where Orchard Café really is at its best, with its large courtyard area offering a warm and inviting space – ideal for unwinding and soaking up the peaceful atmosphere.

The menu features a daily specials board featuring locally sourced ingredients. At the counter, we found a tempting array of homemade cakes, including enormous, golden-baked scones.

However, it was the irresistible smell of sizzling bacon that sealed it for us, so a round of generously filled crispy bacon rolls, along with regular tea and smooth lattes served in classic ceramic mugs and saucers. The perfect way to enjoy a lazy Sunday morning.

Orchard Café is a quiet delight in the heart of Shrewsbury and we think, definitely one worth discovering.
