A powerful new stage show celebrating the life, legacy and music of John Lennon is coming to Shrewsbury this summer as part of a major UK tour.

Something About Lennon: The John Lennon Story will take to the stage at Theatre Severn on Friday 20 June 2025, offering audiences a fresh, moving and honest look at one of music’s most iconic and influential figures.

A Unique Biopic Experience

This is not a typical tribute show. Something About Lennon is a live biographical performance that tells Lennon’s story through music, covering the years following the breakup of The Beatles. It explores a period of creative energy, controversy, politics and personal change, right up until his untimely death in 1980.

The show features a live band and a setlist of unforgettable songs such as Imagine, Woman and Instant Karma, along with a few Beatles classics that helped shape Lennon’s early fame.

Actor and musician Daniel Taylor leads the show. He is well known for his role in Lennon Through a Glass Onion and brings both stage experience and deep respect for Lennon’s story. Taylor’s theatre credits also include Blood Brothers, By The Waters Of Liverpool, and The Very Best of Tommy Cooper.

It’s lovely as a performer and actor to have people put so much trust in you to tell such an incredible story. And of course, there are all those brilliant songs that have formed the soundtrack to so many people’s lives. I’m very proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait to share it with audiences across the UK.

From the Team Behind “Something About George”

This production comes from the creators of Something About George and Something About Simon, which celebrate the music of George Harrison and Paul Simon, respectively.

Co-producer Bill Elms described the excitement around this newest project:

The response since we announced Something About Lennon has been incredible.

The word icon can sometimes be overused, but if anyone deserves the title, it’s John Lennon. Daniel Taylor and the rest of the band have been working hard in the rehearsal room to create a fitting celebration of an extraordinary man’s life and music, and I know audiences are going to absolutely love it.
