Anyone who uses Greyfriars bridge to go to and from town can’t fail to notice Stop. Situated on the edge of the quarry, this cafe serves walkers, shoppers and every kind of sports enthusiast.

Overlooking the river, customers can choose to relax on deckchairs opposite, or sit alongside the quarry edge at their outdoor tables. The whole setting is picture perfect.

Having been open for several years, it’s hard to imagine this spot without a cafe here as a constant stream of customers come through the door on a showery Sunday morning.

On offer are toasties, salads and a range of sweet treats, but being as it’s a Sunday morning, we went for the bacon buttie option again and what a doorstop it was!

The softest white bread, thick bacon and a choice of sauce (brown obviously) it’s fair to say it was substantial as well as delicious, accompanied with a smooth latte in a branded ceramic cup.

Whether you’re resting or just needing a pit stop, this cafe and outside space creates a community all of its own.
